Church Family

The Church Family commission strives to ensure that all that walk through the doors of Grace feel welcomed and feel like part of the Grace family.  From welcoming newcomers, to helping each member provide "gentle care" to each other, to organizing the friendly faces that greet you each Sunday before service -- Church Family is there.

Programs include:

++ EpiscoPal - Those interested in making Grace their church home can be paired up with an existing family to help "learn the ropes" of Grace.  The "Pals" explain the logistics of Grace, including where to park when the lot is full, how to sign up for Sunday school, and how to get involved at Grace.  The "Pals" serve as a consistent friendly face to those who are new and unsure of their new church.

++ Circles of Grace - New in Fall 2008, all members of Grace are organized into neighborhood-based "Circles" of around 10 households.  These groups help create smaller "families" at Grace.  These circles are meant for occasional fellowship, gentle care (cookies, cards, etc. in times of need), and familiar faces to catch up with at coffee hour.  Upon joining Grace, a member will be placed in a Circle.  Each Circle will meet for a social event once or twice a year.

++ Greeters Guild - Church family coordinates the friendly, smiling faces that greet each person at Sunday service and hand out nametags and bulletins.  These greeters also coordinate the collection and presentation of the elements during the service.  The current schedule can be found on the Greeters Schedule.

++ Newcomers Sunday - All Saints Sunday in November is traditionally the Newcomers' brunch.  During this meal held after the 10:30 service, all newcomers from the previous year are introduced to the congregation present.

++ Mugs, Nametags, Tea Letters - Church family also coordinates the visitor mugs given out at each service, the making of the nametags, and the follow-up letters (with tea for the mugs) that are sent to visitors that provide addresses.

Church Family has a great group of volunteers that does a wonderful job taking care of Grace visitors and members.  If you are interested in taking part of any of these programs, please let Rev. Jen or the Church Family chair (current Kristie Phillips) know.
